It was a lovely day on the island and we decided to go on a tour and explore Uluwatu region in Bali. We browsed through the internet and found a reliable tour guide Wayan from Bali Wayan Tours. So, we arranged that he pick us up at our hotel Bali Legian Nirwana around noon. The plan was to go around Uluwatu area and end a day with the performance of Kecak dance.

Just a short ride away from Nusa Dua you will find the beautiful area of Uluwatu with islands most famous sunsets. This is the most famous area on Bukit Peninsula because of its cliff-top temple where they perform Kecak dance. This region is home to Bali’s most scenic luxury resorts and villas. The views are amazing and the sunsets over the Indian Ocean are simply breathtaking. Uluwatu and the Bukit should be high on your list if you’re looking for a stay in Bali that is away from the crowds common to Bali’s south, such as Kuta, Legian, and Seminyak.
Uluwatu and Bukit are located on Bali’s southern cliff-fringed peninsula. The top attractions in this area are definitely the island’s most iconic temple, gorgeous coastlines, spectacular views, and world-class surfing playgrounds.
Uluwatu Temple is built on the hill with the views of the wide Indian Ocean. The views from here are spectacular. It was an impressive experience to visit the Uluwatu Temple in this amazing setting. Our guide Wayan took us to the Uluwatu Temple, he showed us around and explained a bit about the history of the temple.
#1 Uluwatu Temple
Uluwatu Temple or Pura Luhur Uluwatu is definitely one of the six key temples in Bali that should not be missed. It is celebrated for its magnificent location, perched on top of a steep cliff approximately 70 meters above sea level. Pura Luhur Uluwatu is definitely one of the top places on the island to go to for magnificent sunset, with direct views overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and daily Kecak dance performances. Every evening the Balinese men perform Kecak Dance at this setting, so we do recommend you to visit the performance.
When you are wandering around the temple be aware of the monkeys. By the local beliefs, the monkeys take care of the temple and protect it from bad influence and bad energy. They are not afraid of the tourists and they are naturally skilled pickpockets! We saw a guy who lost a phone to a monkey 🙂
#2 Kecak Dance
Kecak is a unique Balinese dance performed by over 50 dancers. The story of Ramayana is retold during the performance and the dancers in the circle are saying the words Kecak, cak-cak-cak in hypnotic tempo. At the end, after the fire dance, good triumphs over evil and everything is well in the world again.
#3 Padang Padang Beach
Padang Padang Beach locally referred to as Pantai Labuan Sait, is one of Bali’s most famous surf spots. You can access the beach through a unique hollow rock entrance. The beach is stunning and features an exotic setting.
#4 Balangan Beach
Balangan Beach locally referred to as Pantai Balangan, is one of Bali’s most popular and most scenic beaches. Here you will find a half-kilometer stretch of golden sand bordered by cliffs and spectacular views. It attracts surfers from all over the world.
