L’Open Tour Bus Paris Review
L’Open Tour Bus Paris Review
Hop on/hop off buses are a great way to see the city.
The L’Open Tour Bus has four routes which are included in the ticket price. You can get on at any bus stop marked with the L’Open Tour Bus sign. This is an excellent way to see the main sights of Paris and to get some historical facts at the same time. You should start your city tour with the hop on/hop off bus, especially if you like to plan ahead, which places you would like to visit later.
L’Open Tour Bus is a green double decker bus, which is easily recognisable. The company offers 4 different tours with the purchase of one-day ticket. Each tour line has a different color, which is indicated in the windshield of the bus.
We started our tour at the main L’Open Tour Bus office. Immediately a very friendly lady provided us with headphones, a map of different tours and discount vouchers. She was also very helpful and showed us where we should hop off the bus, to discover beautiful landmarks on foot.
With this in mind we took the green line and started our tour of Paris.
During the tour we listened to the recorded audio commentary which was very interesting and was available in 10 languages (French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese and Japanese).
The buses were clean and weren’t crowded at all, so we could sit where ever we wanted. The best place to see everything and to take great pictures is the upper deck.
With L’Open Tour Bus it’s pretty easy to see the whole city. However, you need to plan ahead to make the most out of this.
As mentioned before they have 4 different tour lines:
1. Green Line – Paris Grand Tour
2. Yellow Line – Montmartre
3. Orange Line – Montparnasse
4. Blue Line – Bastille
The green line takes in all the major sites from the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Notre Dame… The orange line extends to Montparnasse, Luxembourg, Esplanade des Invalides… The blue line includes Bastille and Bercy and the yellow line covers the Montmartre, Gare du Nord, Grands Boulevards…
You can get on or off as many times as you want because you will found out that walking really is the best way to see Paris. And when your feet are tired from all day walking, hop on the bus again and just enjoy the ride in this beautiful city. You can also switch the lines at certain points and go on to another bus for the duration of your ticket. All four tour lines are included in your ticket price so this is definitely a great way to see a lot of Paris sights.
WHY YOU SHOULD BOOK…
In summary… Hop on/hop off buses are a convenient way to discover a new city. They allow you to be quickly oriented in an unfamiliar city.
As mentioned before, the L’Open Tour Bus company has four routes, so they basically cover the whole Paris. They have so many stops that you will not miss on seeing all the major sites.
In the event that you are in the city for more than just a day, we do suggest that you take 2 or 3 day pass, because one day isn’t enough to cover all 4 routes. All four routes are included in the ticket price, so you do not have to pay extra if you choose a different route.
Nevertheless, you should do some planning, so that you will know where would you like to get off the bus and which sites would you like to visit. You can view their tour line map on their website to see where the bus stops.
