If you wish to stay right in the center of old Medina, near to Jemaa El Fna and all the attractions, then Riad Farnatchi is a perfect choice for you. The riad is just a few minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of the old part of Marrakech.
The riad itself is beautifully restored and has two elegant candlelit dining rooms, different rooms where you can relax and have a view of the garden with orange trees, a separate restaurant called Le Trou au Mur, lovely spa area and of course a large rooftop garden with sun loungers and dining area.
Riad Farnatchi has 10 luxury suites of varying styles. Each suite has a different setting but they are all elegantly and beautifully decorated and have stunning interiors. Our suite was magnificent with high ceilings, amazing chandeliers, heavy curtains, a large sitting area with a fireplace and a small desk, king size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets, a large bathroom area with shower and a bathtub and we also had a private access to the terrace. It was magnificent!
We had the special honor to dine in the newly opened restaurant of the hotel called Le Trou au Mur. The restaurant opened its doors just a few days prior to our arrival and it is located in the nearby building. The restaurant is elegant and intimate and it gives you a relaxed, laid-back feeling. The interior is decorated in white and black colors with beautiful paintings and lovely decorations. The food at Le Trou au Mur is excellent! We had an amazing dinner with starter, main course and dessert and everything tasted delicious. There is a variety of carefully researched old family recipes rarely seen outside private homes from the famous Tagine to gourmet burgers. Anything your heart desires. Le Trou au Mur combines the very best of Moroccan home cooking with a few of those comfort dishes that we sometimes just can’t live without. So, if you are in Marrakech be sure to visit Le Trou au Mur for an excellent dining experience.
Breakfast was another amazing meal during our stay. We ordered our breakfast on the rooftop terrace where we had the perfect view of the city. The breakfast was delicious with an enormous choice of dishes from an amazing spread of Moroccan pastries, bread, jam and honey, yogurt, fruits, omelet and of course freshly squeezed orange juice.
If you are visiting Morocco then be sure to go for a hammam experience in one of the spas. Staying at Riad Farnatchi we had to visit their spa as it is one of the most beautiful spas in Marrakech.
The Farnatchi Spa is a beautifully designed spa with stunning private marble hammams. The spa has vaulted ceilings, comfortable treatment rooms with their own shower facilities and it even offers a menu of light healthy lunches.
What is a Hammam?
The hammam is a pleasant time for relaxation and wellness where you will receive a traditional scrub with an exfoliating glove and black soap. There are many benefits from the evacuation of toxins, physical and spiritual relaxation, lymphatic improvement, to deep cleaning and purification of the skin. The hammam usually ends with a gentle massage based on stretching and rinsing with rosewater.
The location of the Riad Farnatchi is perfect for exploring the medina and the main square of Jemaa El Fna. The souqs are about a five-minute walk away and you will also find a few museums in the walking distance. Be sure to see the Jemaa El Fna when it is transformed from the bustling square with snake charmers to a place with numerous stalls of delicious smelling food.
Marrakech is a wonderful place and there is so much to see and do that you definitely won’t get bored. Riad Farnatchi is perfectly located so you can discover the city on foot. Whether you decide to visit some of the older palaces, navigate the souks, or indulge in a Hammam, don’t be afraid to head out and get lost in the winding streets of this hectic colorful town.
