Sardinia Bucket List
Before my first trip to the island of Sardinia, I had gathered some information on what to visit while there. So, down below you will find my Sardinia Bucket List for this trip.
The island of Sardinia is famous around the world for its beauty, wonderful coast with the turquoise blue sea, breathtaking caves, small villages and old city of Alghero. The island will charm you! In the spring and summer, you can relax and enjoy the beach life and the warm Mediterranean weather. During autumn and winter, you can discover the inland, different cities and UNESCO world heritage sites. Don’t forget to taste the traditional Sardinian food and wine. It’s delicious!
Are you wondering where to stay on the island? Sardinia is one of the most exclusive parts of the Mediterranean, a great place to chill out with amazing food, vine and picture perfect scenery. Here you will find different accommodations, from small boutique hotels to luxury villas and apartments. If you are a family, couple or a solo traveler, you will find the perfect accommodation for your needs.
Alghero is a charming old town with Catalan origins. It is a lovely small port with great history. This town has the Catalonian feel and it became known as “Barceloneta” because it almost feels like you are not in Italy but in Spain. The town is surrounded by old walls and seven great towers. The architecture is breathtaking and well worth taking some pictures for your family album. Within the walls, there are several historic churches and palaces built in the 16th-18th centuries in a Catalan style. Alghero is known for one of those places that the Italians are happy to keep to themselves.
Neptune’s cave or “Grotta Di Nettuno” is one of the most beautiful caves in Europe. To access the cave you can either take a boat trip or take a walk down the steps. Approximately 700 steps will take you to the entrance of the cave, but the views on the way down are amazing, so it’s worth it. Here you will discover unspoiled Sardinia and the beauty of the largest and most famous caves on the island.

Where to stay while in Sardinia?
We spend a few lovely days at Villa Las Tronas Hotel & Spa. It is a beautiful luxury boutique hotel, located in the old town of Alghero, on the northwest coast of Sardinia, set in lovely parkland, on a natural peninsula, surrounded by green gardens and breathtaking views of the azure waters and the Gulf of Alghero.
