A Quick Guide to the Maldives
A quick guide to the Maldives will help you collect the most important information regarding the islands. The Maldives have so many amazing things to offer from pristine white beaches to azure sea, beautiful underwater world and some of the best resorts on the earth.
The island of Maldives is definitely not a budget destination, but there are so many different options of accommodation, that you will certainly find the right one for you. The islands are loved by honeymooners, couples and also families with children. With powder white sand, warm turquoise water and lots of activities this is a true heaven on Earth.
Down below you will find all the necessary information on how to get to the Maldives, the best times to visit the islands, where to stay and what to do.
First, you have to fly to Male International Airport where one of the staff members from the resort will wait for you and explain all the details for further transportation. There are lots of resorts that can be reached by speedboat, but if you are staying a bit further you will board a seaplane which will take you to your island. Be aware of the prices and check if the transfer is included in the price when you book your resort.
Where to Stay
The Maldives accommodations tend to consist of resorts ranging from high-end to downright luxurious. When you stay at a resort in The Maldives check what is included in the price. It is best to check if there is an all-inclusive option available with drinks, meals, and watersports, otherwise, be prepared to increase your budget. There are a few really beautiful islands near the main island of Male. Check out our review of the first Maldivian island called Kurumba Maldives. The drive from the airport to the resort is less than 10 minutes with a speedboat and on the island, you will find beautiful accommodations, amazing restaurants and lots of fun things to do. The island does not have water villas, so if you are looking to stay in one of the famous water villas, you can check Adaraan Select Meedhupparu. You will be taken there by a seaplane which will give you spectacular views of the ocean and the islands. Or if you are seeking for an island that is closer to the airport and you can get there with a speedboat, then check out Velassaru Maldives. It is a beautiful island with perfect beach great for swimming and snorkeling.
Best Time to Go
The best time to visit The Maldives is between December and April when the weather is usually sunny and the temperatures are just right. Although be aware that this is the busiest and most crowded time. The months between May and November are a bit more unreliable because this is the rainy season in the Maldives and the air can be much more humid. I have visited the Maldives in June and August and the weather was just perfect. So, it is up to you to decide.
What To Do
There are plenty of activities offer by each individual resort. Not to forget that the Maldives is a diver’s paradise. The water is warm and the sea life is amazing. You can always lay on the beach and just enjoy the beautiful scenery and if you want a bit of action, you can try different sports activities offered by the hotel. There are also romantic sunset cruises, dinner on the beach, drive to secluded sandbanks or you can go on a trip to the city of Male. If you want to catch a glimpse of native island life, take a dhoni ride to a local fishing village and if surfing is more your thing you can catch some waves in the North Male Atoll.
