Hezen Cave Hotel Cappadocia
Hezen Cave Hotel is located in Cappadocia’s village of Ortahisar overlooking the beautiful Ortahisar castle and the surrounding old cave houses. The place is beautiful with its many terraces with incredible views of the whole village. The rooms are lovely decorated, the food is delicious and the staff members friendly and helpful. Location
Cappadocia is a beautiful part of Turkey and to see it all it could take a month or more. But if you are here for just a short visit, then staying at the right place could be a key. Ortahisar is one of the less known cities in the region because for a long time the village economy has been based on the storage of citrus fruits into the region’s iconic caves. But now many caves have been transformed into boutique cave hotels and the town is more and more popular. Hezen Cave Hotel is located in the heart of the village of Ortahisar, a central base for exploring the famed landscapes of Cappadocia. The hotel is located around 40min from the airport and less than 10min drive from Göreme Open Air Museum, Rose and Love Valley. Nearby leisure activities include hiking and hot air balloon rides.
Hotel
We arrived at Hezen Cave Hotel from the nearby village of Goreme, where we stayed at the Kelebek Cave Hotel. Immediately we were greeted with a fresh beverage and a small plate of pastries. After the brief check-in process, the lovely Hilal explained to us where to find the best sightseeing attractions nearby and escorted us to our room.
The hotel itself has been built into an exceptional old house of cave bedrooms and was fully renovated and refurbished to the highest standards. The interior has been designed by Halide Didem and it brightens up the rooms with colorful furniture and modern decor. One of the best parts of the hotel is a carved stoned terrace that overlooks Ortahisar’s giant rock castle. The view is breathtaking!
Accommodation
We stayed in the room number 4 and it was a lovely cave room with a large king size bed, big bathroom with walk-in shower, natural cave walls, white wooden floors and brightly colored furniture. The hotel offers exclusivity, with only 15 rooms, so you are offered a personal service for the duration of your stay. Some of the guest rooms also have a charming terrace or balcony and each room comes equipped with a TV and minibar.
Restaurant
There is a beautiful small restaurant with indoor and outdoor sitting area. You can dine in a hotel’s breakfast room, which includes a stone fireplace and antique furnishings or you can choose to dine on the large terrace with spectacular views of the Ortahisar Castle. The breakfast is excellent, with fresh juice, warm bread, jams, salads, cakes and eggs prepared in a variety of ways. The hotel has its own daily menu, so you can choose to dine here or venture out and explore the local area.
The place that we recommend for a romantic dinner is a restaurant located in the famous Museum Hotel called Lil’a. Lil’a is an à la carte restaurant and cooperate the best recipes of Turkish cuisine, along with those special, almost forgotten traditional tastes of Anatolia and Cappadocia. And the sunset from the hotel is amazing.
Activities
As you already guessed the region of Cappadocia is well known for its hot air balloon flights. You can visit the nearby town to go on a hot air balloon flight. The hotel will arrange everything, you just have to wake up really early and let the experienced pilots do the magic. There is also an Open Air Museum in the village of Goreme, just a few minutes drive away. Where you can discover a bit of Cappadocian history. Some other must do sightseeing attractions include underground cities, Red Valley, Ortahisar & Uchisar Castle and many more. If you are a bit more adventures you can try to tour across valleys with horses. Everyday professional horses riding sessions are organized with adults and children.
Conclusion
Hezen Cave Hotel is a beautiful hotel with spectacular views as you can see from the photos. The village of Ortahisar is small but it has its own charm. You can visit other more famous towns and attractions in a heartbeat. They are just a few minutes ride away. The Hotel combines design, comfort, and Turkish hospitality and we would recommend it to everyone.
