Checking in: Hilton Malta
We decided to spend our pre-Christmas time in Malta, a beautiful island in the Mediterranean sea. For our stay, we arranged a stay at the Hilton Hotel, which is in the heart of the fashionable St. Julian’s.
Hilton Malta is a luxurious hotel overlooking beautiful Portomaso waterfront and amazing yacht marina. It is easily accessible by car, taxi or public transport. The taxi ride will take less than 30 min and it will cost around €25, but if you decide to take the public bus (around 50 min) it will cost you just €1.50.
This excellent seafront resort offers breathtaking views, nice service, amazing wellness, spacious rooms, good restaurants and nice business facilities.
Location
Hilton Malta is located on the beach, next to the marina and 22 story Portomaso tower, which is the highest building on the island.
Portomaso is a very nice area with walking distance to all the fun and exciting things like amazing restaurants, bars, and shops. If you decide to visit the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valletta, it is just around 10 km away from the hotel. Portomaso is conveniently located and you can reach other parts of the island with public transport, or you can choose to get on the sightseeing bus that will take you around the island (hop on/hop off bus station is in front of the hotel).
Hotel
Very friendly front desk staff welcomed us on our arrival. As we looked around the lobby we noticed how enormous the hotel is, it had long corridors with boutiques, spacious bar with lovely Christmas decorations and a big staircase leading to the hotel restaurants. The hotel went through majestic renovations in 2016 and now it’s even more glamorous than before.
We spent four nights here and we discovered that the hotel has a lot more to offer than just luxurious feeling that you get when walking through the door.
Hilton Malta is an amazing hotel with 410 stylish rooms and suites, 19 meeting rooms, 2 elegant executive lounges, 3 charming restaurants, 3 bars, 4 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool and a nice Health Club. So, our first impression of the hotel was right – it is a huge hotel with a lot to offer and with great views over the Mediterranean!
Restaurants
Hilton Malta has three restaurants: Blue Elephant, Merkanti Beach Club, and Oceana. Here you will find everything from the Mediterranean food to the traditional Thai cuisine. There is also a choice of three bars Aqua Bar, Quarterdeck Bar, and Vista Lobby Lounge, where you can enjoy your drinks.
We had the pleasure to dine in one of the top rated restaurants in Malta – The Blue Elephant. The restaurant is simply beautiful, it’s like an exotic oasis with waterfalls, lush greenery, and tropical flowers. They serve delicious Thai cuisine in a stylish ambiance. Don’t forget to try their signature cocktails!
If you’d like to try a great buffet selection of Mediterranean food then you should choose Oceana restaurant with its relaxed ambiance. For cocktails and stunning views of the marina, we suggest the stylish Quarterdeck bar.
The rich breakfast buffet is served in the Oceana restaurant with amazing views of the pool area. The buffet is well stocked and you can choose between fresh fruit, nuts, cheese, ham, sausages, cereals, eggs, pastries, jam… You will definitely find something for every taste! And you can also choose your own fresh prepared omelet, which by the way tastes delicious.
Rooms
We stayed in an Executive King Sea view Room. The room was breathtaking with partial sea/pool view, spacious balcony, modern bathroom with great amenities and very (very!) comfortable bed!
Hilton Malta offers Classic and Contemporary rooms or you can also rent a Studio apartment. All rooms and suites are furnished in modern style with the traditional Maltese decor. They all have spacious bathrooms, as well as a private balcony overlooking the beautiful garden or amazing sea. In-room amenities include TV, telephone, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, bathrobe, slippers and hair dryer.
We also had the access to the Executive lounge on the ninth floor, where you can have your afternoon tea with small sandwiches and cakes. In the evening there is a wide selection of finger food, canapes, and drinks available. The service was very attentive and friendly and we had a lovely time in the Executive lounge before our dinner.
Wellness
During the day we spent our time at the LivingWell Health Club. Here you will find a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Myoka Five Senses Spa, hair salon, shops, weight machines, cardio equipment and different fitness classes.
Besides the indoor pool Hilton Malta also offers 4 outdoor pools, 2 children’s pools, and an artificial sandy beach. You can also enjoy the Merkanti Beach Club, which provides a wide range of activities from water sports to scuba diving.

It is an amazing and luxurious hotel on a beautiful location in St. Julians perfect for business and family vacation. You can take a dip in one of the hotel pools, enjoy exquisite dining or sip a cocktail in the stylish bar with fantastic views. It is ideally located with just minutes from Malta’s major cultural and entertainment areas.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this great hotel and would greatly recommend it if you are planning to visit the beautiful island of Malta!
