Visiting Moulin Rouge while in Paris was on my bucket list for so long. I love the movie, love theater, cabaret, music, costumes, dancers and everything that comes along. So, when we finally reserved the tickets I could not wait for this day to come.
Moulin Rouge is one of the world’s most famous cabaret shows and it is a must-see experience if you are in Paris. If you are romantic, just as I am, then the perfect day would be strolling around the streets of Montmartre in the late afternoon, with a visit to the famous Moulin Rouge in the evening. You can even have a lovely dinner at the venue, before the show.
Theatre was built in 1889 at the foot of the Butte Montmartre and it was a success from the moment they opened the doors. The club was a place where artists and dancers produced great performances and the public loved it. Until this day most of the shows are sold out days in advance. So, I would warmly recommend that you book your ticket online to secure your seat and avoid long waiting lines at the counter.

I had the pleasure to see the current show called Feerie. The concept of Moulin Rouge stayed the same during the years. Fabulous settings, amazing costumes with feathers and rhinestones, top performances, original music and the most beautiful girls in the world. It is a burlesque cabaret, so there will be some nudity, but nothing was inappropriate. Just sit back and enjoy the performance because the show is spectacular.
I was so impressed with everything, the stage which was beautiful, the costumes of the dancers, the story behind the show and the elegance and the class of the show. I loved the acrobatic couple on roller skates and the woman swimming with a snake in a giant water tank. Everything was so impressive that I am determined to see the show again once I am back in Paris.
There are two shows daily: one at 9pm and one at 11pm. If you reserve the dinner before the show you have to be there at 7pm.
You can find many different cabarets in Paris, but if this is your first time visiting a cabaret, I would without a doubt recommend you to see the Moulin Rouge. It is such a memorable show that will definitely make your evening close to perfection. Many international stars have performed at the Moulin Rouge stage over the years from Ella Fitzgerald, Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra to Elton John and Edith Piaf. And in these days you can see the amazing Doriss Girls dance one of the best French cancan performances of all times. Visiting this iconic venue and experiencing a part of the historic Moulin Rouge is a magical and unforgettable experience.
