PARADIS LATIN
We were so excited to visit Paradis Latin on our second trip to Paris. I mean we love the city, no doubt about it and will definitely return again and again. But my biggest wish was to see cabaret live, like in the old days. I have always loved the theater, the performances, the music, the artists, so to visit the cabaret in Paris was like a dream come true.
THEATRE
The Paradis Latin theater was built in 1803 by Napoleon Bonaparte and was initially called Théâtre Latin. A lot of famous writers were frequently seen here, such as Victor Hugo and Balzac. Theatre burned down in 1870 and was again rebuilt by Gustave Eiffel (yes it is the same man who has built the Eiffel Tower) in 1887-1889. It opened its doors with the brand new name Le Paradis Latin. The place was a total success and hosted different shows, ballets, and performances every evening. In 1973 a real estate developer purchase the property and upon the destruction he discovered impressive metal structure created by Eiffel, a stunning cathedral and a superb cupola hand painted with motives from pantomime, the opera, ballet, and eccentricities. That is when the real estate agent decided to restore the place and make out of it the most beautiful theater in Paris.
SHOW
The show at the Paradis Latin was called Paradis a la Folie and it was a mixture of dancers, trapeze artists, singers, transvestites, and comedians. It was a lot of fun and we were engaged throughout the show. Different stage backgrounds, scenery, colorful costumes and lovely music made the show interesting and fun. We can not forget to mention the famous dance performance the French cancan, which was performed at the end of the show.
If you are booking just the show without the dinner it starts at 9.30pm.
DINNER
We had the pleasure to dine at this beautiful and charming theater before the show so we arrived at 8pm. The dinner menu consisted of two different appetizers, two main dishes to choose from and a dessert. So, we decided to try each of them and I must say the dinner tasted delicious. Also included in the price was 1/2 bottle of Bordeaux wine and 1⁄4 Bottle of Champagne per person.
The menu festival that we had is priced 130EUR per person.
WHY YOU SHOULD BOOK…
If cabarets are your thing and you enjoy the theater mixed with a bit of old charm, then you should book the tickets for the show. It is a fun evening with your loved ones or your friends. We would recommend you to book the package with the dinner, so you can enjoy a true French experience. Usually the show if fully booked so it is good if you reserve your tickets a few days in advance. We love theater so we really enjoyed the cabaret and had a fabulous evening in Paris!
