Rickshaw Ride in Durban
A rickshaw ride is a unique tourist attraction in Durban and the rickshaw pullers have been operating there for more than 100 years. You can find them on the Golden Mile beach, dressed in their handmade colorful costumes. They are very much a part of the Durban culture and for as little as R20 you can enjoy the thrilling ride.
Now there are only 20 registered rickshaw pullers left and they are taking great pride in their work. The rickshaws are beautifully decorated and the pullers are decked in amazing costumes and impressive headgear. The costumes are handcrafted with traditional decorations and there are no two the same.
This fun way of transport will not only make you experience a true tradition of the Zulu culture, but you will also support the family of the puller, with the fee that you paid for the ride. So, this is a win-win situation and a real treat on your visit to the Durban coastline.
You can take a rickshaw ride on the Golden Mile promenade or you can combine it with your Durban city tour like I did.
