We took a short trip to the beautiful Schloss Prielau in Austria. It was around 4 hours drive from our country Slovenia to the breathtaking Zell Am See. Schloss Prielau is a pet-friendly hotel, so we decided to take our dog Preston along on this trip.
Schloss Prielau is located in a small town called Zell am See in idyllic Austria. It is just 200 meters away from the lake and has amazing views over the forest and the mountains. Town Zell am See is a year-round holiday destination. You can go skiing in winter or cycling in the summer. Either way, you decide you will have a plenty of options to choose from. The nearby town of Kaprun is one of the best-known ski areas in Austria and it is only a few minutes away. Also, close by is a town called Bischofshofen where you can watch winter ski jumping. In the summer you can go hiking around the area or enjoy a relaxing holiday at the lake.
Schloss Prielau is surrounded by green fields and it is perfectly positioned close to the lake. Since 1980 the Schloss Prielau has been owned by the Porsche family. They converted this lovely castle to the warm country hotel known for the Austrian hospitality and delicious cuisine. The hosts of the hotel are Anette and Andreas Mayer. Anette spoils their guests with personal care and her husband with perfect cuisine served at his 2 star Michelin restaurant.
When we arrived at the hotel we were friendly greeted and immediately taken to our suite. The hotel has seven double rooms, two suites, and an apartment. All rooms are furnished differently but contain the same style through the hotel.
We stayed at the 115 m2 suite called Gerti von Hofmannsthal. The suite was very spacious with two bedrooms, a living room, and a modern bathroom. It was furnished with modern facilities and combined with antiques. The room also had an underfloor heating, Nespresso coffee machine, flat screen TV in every room and a free WiFi.
The breakfast was served in the cozy castle kitchen. You could choose from muesli, fresh bread, homemade jams, yogurt, fresh juices, a selection of cheese and meat, eggs and of course coffee and tea. The selection was enormous and the food was delicious. We also had a late lunch at the same restaurant and the food was again delicious. We would highly recommend it. Schloss Prielau has another gourmet restaurant on the side, but unfortunately, it was closed during our visit. The restaurant is called Mayer’s and is run by a two-star Michelin chef Andreas Mayer.
Are you looking for a nice getaway during your summer or winter holidays? Schloss Prielau is a perfect spot to relax for a few days while enjoying a friendly atmosphere and a great cuisine. In the summer you can go on a hike or relax by the lake. And in the winter you can go skiing or enjoy the comfort of the hotel sauna or steam bath. Schloss Prielau is also a perfect place for your fairytale wedding with its dreamlike location.
