Sky High Dining in Bangkok
While I was in Bangkok I had the chance to dine at the Park Society restaurant in Sofitel So hotel. The restaurant is located on the 29th floor of the hotel and presents an uninterrupted view of Lumpini Park. The cuisine offered is mostly international with a kick of Thai influence.
Park Society Bangkok
Park Society combines sky high dining in Bangkok and a culinary creativity with a down-to-earth social buzz. Here you will be served with excellent food, good times, and amazing views of the city. The restaurant has been designed to dine inside or outside and wherever you choose to sit you will have spectacular views of the city. Be sure to come before the sunset because once the sun goes down the lights of the buildings are mirrored all around the restaurant. Simply beautiful! The restaurant itself is kept simple, with black marble floors, cream table linens, and comfortable chairs.
Chef Joost Bijster
The multi-award-winning restaurant is helmed by Australian Chef Joost Bijster, who has created amazing sharing menu dishes.
“If you have good taste in food, then you’ll enjoy Thai food. After living in Thailand for three years, I learned that Thai people not only cook amazing local food, but they can also cook wonderful international food. The flavors that I’ve tasted in Bangkok have always agreed with me. Maybe it’s because I really enjoy strong seasoning and Thai food has lots of taste. All my experiences have led me to have the highest expectations when it comes to all food in Thailand.” – Joost Bijster
The Menu
At Park Society restaurant you can choose from different a la carte dishes or you can try one of their specially created degustation menus.
To get a really full picture of the menu, I ordered the six-course tasting menu which included King Crab with cucumber, green apple, wasabi, and radish for the first starter. Another appetizer was a dish with Majestic Oyster and Tzar Caviar. Both of these were extremely tasty.
After this, I had a soup with Lobster bisque and infused with Tom Yum. The dish itself was not only tasty but also something for the eyes.
So far, everything in the menu was absolutely phenomenal. It was time for the main courses. The first main course was Scallop with pumpkin and beurre noisette and the second main dish, which was my favorite, was Wagyu Striploin with carrot, gnocchi and truffle sauce. The meat just melts in your mouth and it goes perfectly with the creamy truffle mash. The flavors are really marvelous!
The dessert was definitely a great finish to a wonderful evening at Park Society. I was served with different preparations of Vahlorna chocolate and it was simply exquisite.
Conclusion
Park Society at Sofitel So is one of those restaurants that you want to lounge in, relax and enjoy every bite. I must say that I was completely impressed with the entire experience and I highly recommend that you pay a visit to the Park Society the next time you’re in Bangkok.
